Safe Water for Omilende Project (2017)

Remember Omilende? A community of 250 inhabitants in Moro Local Government area of Kwara State, that had no access to clean and safe water. Yes! They now do. All thanks to the donors, members and supporters of #EaglesFoundationForHumanity.

On the 14th of January 2018, members of #Eagles foundation for humanity headed to #Omilende to commission a manual #borehole which was provided for the community. The borehole was commissioned by Barrister Anifowoshe Titilope, who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the foundation.

In the words of Ban ki-moon, “Saving our planet, lifting people out of poverty, advancing economic growth… these are one and the same fight. We must connect the dots between climate change, #WATER SCARCITY, energy shortages, global health, food security and women’s empowerment.” It is good to note that Eagles foundation for humanity has taken a giant step towards ending water scarcity with this move.

Before now, there was only a borehole which provides about ten buckets of water in two days for the community during the raining season, and an alternative spring water, which dries off after the raining season. The spring water is located on the path way into the community – where vehicles, animals and humans pass through. Today, the story has however, changed.

Fellows in humanity, let us be proud that up to N500,000 was crowdsourced from the public. That includes you, and you, and you. The other N200,000 was donated by members of the foundation. Let me tell you what this means? We are all partners in humanity. We are all building the future together. We are all creating a community where basic social amenities wouldn’t be regarded as luxury. Let’s keep building, and never stop.

Don’t sleep on this partners. You were part of Omilende. #IWasPartOfOmilende
